Hello – my name is Anna and I couldn’t bake a thing a couple of years ago. Even though I always had a passion for cooking, I couldn’t wrap my head around baking and the whole science thing behind it. I could cook a perfect steak and make a really delicious salad, appetizer, and side dish, but my desserts were pathetic.
I had to read a lot to make this happen. “Professional Baking” by Gisslen, “Advanced Bread and Pastry” by Michel Suas, and “Chocolate and Confections” by Peter P. Greweling (plus many more) are the books I would recommend to anyone who wants to dive deep into baking everything from scratch.
After much trial and error, I’ve learned a lot and can say that I feel pretty comfortable for a home cook around all types of flours, sugars, food colorings, chocolates, etc. I hope I will be able to give you a little bit of my confidence – and, of course, I will be more than happy to share with you the delicious sweet and savory baking recipes that me and my family enjoy.
